Coccidioides and Valley fever

Detection of Coccidioides in mammal lungs across the endemic Valley fever region of the southwestern U.S. (Salazar-Hamm et al. 2022)
C. posadasii exhibits a significantly faster growth rate at 37C than C. immitis (Mead et al. 2020).

Coccidioides causing human infections in New Mexico were caused by both C. immitis and C. posadassii; however, C. posadasii is the main infectious agent (unpublished).
