Coccidioides and Valley fever
We detected Coccidioides in mammal lungs across the endemic Valley fever region of the southwestern U.S. (Salazar-Hamm et al. 2022).
We found C. posadasii grows significantly faster than C. immitis at 37C but at the same rate at 28C (Mead et al. 2020).

Coccidioides causing human infections in New Mexico were caused by both C. immitis and C. posadassii; however, C. posadasii is the main infectious agent (unpublished).
