Coccidioides and Valley fever

We detected Coccidioides in mammal lungs across the endemic Valley fever region of the southwestern U.S. (Salazar-Hamm et al. 2022).
We found C. posadasii grows significantly faster at 37C than C. immitis (Mead et al. 2020).

We confirmed Coccidioides causing human infections in New Mexico were caused by both C. immitis and C. posadassii; however, C. posadasii is the main infectious agent (unpublished).
